Soldier Field
| As part of the Thornton Tomasetti Team, Soodan & Associates, Inc. was selected by the Chicago Bears to provide engineering design services for rehabilitation and adaptive re-use of the existing Soldier Field stadium structure as part of a new stadium complex. The Soldier Field stadium, built in the 1920s, is a national historic landmark. The proposed adaptive re-use program required demolition of the interior portion of the stadium while preserving the exterior facades and colonnade. The remaining facades and colonnade will retain and preserve the historically essential features of the original stadium including the tall Doric Parthenon style colonnades. Soodan’s engineering services included a stability and structural design review and preparation of rehabilitation documents for the preserved stadium facades and colonnade. Soodan provided field investigations, laboratory testing of materials, stability and structural strength analyses, preparation of condition assessment reports and development of a comprehensive rehabilitation program. Soodan’s services also included evaluation of construction vibrations and preparation of contract documents for rehabilitation. |
