Illinois Maximum Security Correctional Center
at Grayville, Illinois
| Soodan & Associates, Inc. provided architectural and structural engineering services for the Illinois Maximum Security Correctional Center, located in southern Illinois. Soodan’s scope of services included preparation of construction documents for the Programs Building, Gun Range Building and Bar Screen Building. The Programs Building is a 55,000 SF facility composed of several functions, including staff offices, educational programs, a courtroom, visitation, a library and medical unit. The medical unit consists of offices, exam rooms, dental services, radiology, first aid and a lab, and 16 patient cells including four isolation cells.
Soodan also provided civil engineering services for the design of the site stormwater detention and drainage system. The total watershed area for the stormwater detention was approximately 450 acres. A surface detention basin was designed to detain approximately 60 acre – feet storage volume. A stepped concrete weir structure was designed to control discharge rates out of the detention basin. In addition, Soodan also provided construction administration services for the project as part of the design team. |
